About The Author

Gary Miller began his practice in June of 1984. Originally known as Denver Accu-tech Planning and Design, he changed the name to Timbertree and Stonecastle Designs, LLC as larger more luxurious custom homes became the focus of the company.

The firm has completed over 300 custom home designs and commercial projects. They reside mainly in Colorado but are also found in Kansas, Idaho, and Ohio as well as other states. In the gated custom home community of Blue Heron Estates in Lafayette, the firm has designed more then one in three of the homes built. Other significant subdivisions include Candlelight Ridge in Erie, Somerset in Niwot, Genesee, Castle Pines, The Pinery and Pridera in Parker to name a few. The focus has not only been on custom homes. It also has been on custom remodels and additions throughout the Denver Metropolitan region. On the commercial side of things, the firm has projects from warehouse to manufacturing, ecclesiastical to educational, and office to medical tenant finish.

In 1998, city council and mayor of the City of Westminster, awarded Gary with “Best Custom Home” showing “Excellence in Design and Development”.

Gary has also been involved with some firsts in the area. One was the first passive solar home designed and built in the City of Thornton. Another was the first Davis Frame style timberframe home in the state. And another was his construction oversight of the first Normerica style Post and Beam home along the Front Range and Eastern Colorado.

Gary feels the key to success is a balanced design team approach to projects. Teams should be made up of key professionals such as engineers, consultants, interior decorators and cabinet planners as well as seeking the advise from established and reputable sub-contractors and material suppliers. His role as the main designer is to incorporate the strengths of the ideas each professional has to offer and to make certain that the end user and owner’s desires for the property are met.

“One of the greatest rewards in the design business is to see the excitement and joy in the eyes of owners as they see and touch what they had dreamed come to life”
